The construction of the Cheboksary hydroelectric power station was planned in 1931. According to the project “Great Volga” the construction of the cascade of waterworks on the Volga and Kama conceived to create a single deep-water route connecting the Caspian, Black, Baltic and White seas, as well as the use of hydropower, the largest river of Europe.

The ambitious plans of industrialization, and then the Great Patriotic war delayed the start of construction of the Cheboksary hydroelectric power station for decades. In 1960, the design of future hydropower was entrusted to Kuibyshev branch of the Institute “Hydroproject”. The project was approved on January 22, 1967, this day is considered the beginning of the construction of the station. The building was declared all-Union shock construction, which was attended by specialists from many regions of the country.

December 31, 1980 was launched the first hydraulic unit, and in 1986 earned all 18. For 33 years the Cheboksary hydroelectric power station has produced more than 71 billion kWh.h of electricity, providing savings in excess of 23 million tons of conditional fuel.

Got in Novocheboksarsk in September 1969 with a group of designers Leonid Fridlyanov.

After the commissioning of the OSG in 1978 switched to control installation of the hydraulic units. In February 1982 Yudkovskaya invited me for group supervision to work at the station. Was appointed Deputy chief of turbine shop. Headed to the shop in 1993.

In starting years, Director Abram G. Yudkovskaya and chief engineer max G. Khisin at the station created a powerful team: A. Frolov, G. Drobinov, V. Kulakov, V. Lagutin, V. Bocharov, V. Dorofeev, A. Shepetov, V. Frolov, Vladimir Shokarev, and many others. Traditions established by them and carried the first generation of power station, relayed by the professionals who work at HPP today.
