Churches and Temples of Ancient Prague

The St. Vitus Cathedral. The dominant feature of Prague Castle is undoubtedly the Cathedral of St. Vitus.

Were held in the Cathedral of the coronation of Bohemian kings, some of them are buried here, so that the Cathedral for the residents of Prague – a place sacred. In the Cathedral you can enter through the bronze doors of the Western façade. On the doors depict scenes from the history of the construction of the temple, as well as episodes of legends about Vaclav and Vojtech.

The Cathedral Of St. Mikuláš.

The Cathedral (Duomo)

The Duomo Cathedral of Milan, bearing the name of Santa Maria Nascente. This Gothic Church was built for nearly six centuries, and today is the fifth largest Cathedral in the world and the largest in Italy. The Duomo is located on the place where once was the center of the Roman Mediolanum, – this is confirmed by the fact that modern streets either radiate from the Cathedral or surround it. Under the building of the Duomo you can see the early Christian baptistery, built in 335, the year, is one of the oldest Christian baptistery in Europe.

In 1386, the year Archbishop Antonio da Saluzzo began construction of the Cathedral, which coincided with the coming to power in Milan of Gian Galeazzo Visconti. The first architect was appointed Simone da Orsenigo, which planned to build the Cathedral in Lombard Gothic style. However, Visconti wanted to follow the fashion trends of European architecture, and therefore invited the French engineer Nicolas de Bonaventure, who added the style “rayonnant Gothic” – French style, not common in Italy. He also decided that the brick structure should be marble. In 1402, the year Jan, Galeazzo died – by this time the Cathedral was only half completed, and construction was frozen nearly to the end of the century. Continue reading

Pyramid lake Rock

There is no doubt that the Egyptian pyramids is the most famous. But they are not the most ancient structures of pyramidal form. In the U.S. state of Wisconsin there is a pyramid, whose age, presumably, 12 thousand years. It turns out that it was built during the last ice age. And made it a very highly advanced civilization…

Rock lake is located 20 miles East of Madison (Wisconsin). Its length is eight and the width is about four kilometers. In 1836, American Explorer Nathaniel, hair accidentally discovered in the lake a small stone pyramid with a flat top. He called his discovery Atzalyno and suggested that the discovery not less than a thousand years.

His discovery of Heyer not attach particular importance on the American continent many of the pyramids, “the cult of the hills” and burial mounds. But in 1862, the press began to be published, which said that the pyramid lake Rock is one of the most ancient pyramids.

It was argued that the pyramid is on the bottom of the lake which was formed many years ago, and, therefore, the construction should be over all Indian tribes. Continue reading
